About
Re: Ben Jackson
I am a designer-slash-programmer whose professional interests include corporate identity design, typography, usability engineering and product development. I was born and raised in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania, though I usually just say I'm from West Philly, having spent four long, excruciating years studying Digital Media Design at the University of Pennsylvania before moving to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
9 to 5 (read: 8 to 10)
I'm currently fulfilling my professional obligations as the Director of Development and Lead Mischief Coordinator at INCOMUM Design & Concept. My job involves a lot of typing, pointing, clicking and the occasional face-to-face contact. We provide print, interactive and communications consulting to a wide range of international clients, all of whom we hold dear to our hearts. If you're curious, drop us a line and we'll get in touch with more information.
On the subject matter
I'm going to try and keep this thing reasonably focused and on-topic. I don't want to flood your news reader with crap, and I'm sure you don't want to have to click through a bunch of posts about the finer points of the XHTML specification when what you really came here for was pictures of attractive people.
This is a blog, and I am a "web designer", so if you could care less about Flash, Ruby on Rails, or any of the other fascinating and sexy technologies I work with, then stick to the non-technical posts. I'll try to make the distinction clear.
Turn-ons
I dig music, subversive artists, design in general, self-effacing humor, parody and a nice dose of trivial bullshit.

- The information is publicly available. Sorry, you're not getting any trade secrets here, and no, I won't violate my NDA just so you can find out the latest cheat code to Grand Theft Auto.
- It either has something to do with my work, OR:
- I think it will be of interest to my readers, OR:
- It pisses me off to no end.

Rules
Sometimes I express opinions that other people don't agree with. If you are one of those people, please leave a (nicely-worded) comment and I'll do my best to respond.
There is only one rule here: Play nice and be polite. Just because I can't see your face doesn't mean I won't find out who you are and kick your ass.
Have a nice day.
